The nanoTHz group specialises in the optical and electronic properties of novel quantum materials in the terahertz (THz) and mid-infrared spectral range. It specializes in ultra-fast THz spectroscopy and magneto-spectroscopy of nanostructures such as quantum cascade lasers and detectors, new 2D materials, spintronics materials and devices, and topological insulators.
The research is structured around three axes: (i) the physical, ultra-fast and non-linear properties of new electronic, photonic and opto-electronic quantum devices (ii) fundamental investigations of new quantum phases of condensed matter, in particular Dirac and Topological matter and (iii) the optical and plasmonic properties of 2D and nanostructured materials and their light-matter interactions in the strong coupling regime (ERC project LEON).
