A group of scientists from PSL University and the French National Museum of Natural History have collaborated with French DJ and artist Agoria to create an allegory of the conservation process in a museum. The genetic evolution of a yeast population cultivated in a bioreactor reproducing the historical context experienced by the painter Gustave Courbet was used to generate an animation of one of his iconic paintings, “L’atelier du peintre”, echoing conservation. The work is on display at the Musée d’Orsay until March 10.
